Program methodology
You are the most suitable person to solve your current challenges as you know yourself and the work environment better than anyone else! Therefore, the coach won’t tell you what to do but instead helps you to make informed decisions about what actions are most likely to benefit your business and how to measure your successes. The program fits to your needs to enable you to set the outcomes you want to obtain from the program.
Coach tailors the program to you, based on your unique plan for change and which issues are important to you in the here and now. The agenda is appropriate and focuses on the present time.
Over the course of 6-12 months, the coach works with you toward your goals. Sessions are spread out, with two one-hour sessions each month. This timeline encourages on-the-job learning and lasting change. Throughout the program, you can initiate change, test new approaches and analyze progression in real time.
The conversation with a coach is the time when you can reflect on the current situation and see how to align the present environment with the desired direction. Take the opportunity to pause and reflect. We often make decisions when we are in a rush or under stress. Coaching facilitates thinking beyond the chaos of the current moment. A stressed mind juggles concerns while a relaxed mind generates solutions instead.
Sessions are only catalysts for execution. The discussion is enlightening, but it is only useful once you apply it at the worksite. For this reason, we help you to develop an action plan to complete between sessions. Within the sessions, we mull over what has been done, assess with you the effectiveness of those activities, and adjust business planning as necessary, based on the current business environment.
The three stages of the Leadership Development Coaching Program
Alignment Stage
We start with the 90-minute Strategy Session that allows you, the coaching participant, to acquire a better understanding of your part of the business, challenges you face, and what you need to get improve on in the workplace. It also comprises your first coaching experience.
Following the Strategy Session, the next step is a Three-Way Start-Up Meeting. To align the company strategy and your individual activity takes time, and we pride ourselves on helping you etch out the details through an in-depth line of questioning. Experience shows that the best way to align fully is to run a three-way meeting that features you, your line manager (optional) and your coach. This meeting opens up discussions of desirable outcomes for your program, as well as pinpointing how to measure progress and results.
The approach may seem to take too much precious time at first, but it is hard to get something right later what we get wrong at the start. We put extra emphasis on the start on the program’s beginning to make sure we have a solid foundation from which to build in the right direction to achieve the right outcomes.
Execution Stage
The coaching sessions can be held in multiple ways, for your convenience. Choose your preference; either hold them at your workplace or over the phone/WebEx. You would meet with the coach twice a month for one hour of coaching each time. The length of the execution stage is determined between you and your line manager during the initial outcome setting meeting.
About halfway through your program, we hold another review session or three-way session. The purpose, this time, is to assess progress. We share results and assess how changes are affecting your team, others in the business, shareholders, partner companies, and other involved parties. This session is also the perfect venue to re-evaluate the outcomes to see if they need revision to achieve alignment again.
Fostering Continued Success
Measuring Success and a Three-Way Final Review enable you, as the participant, and the line manager to measure the differences that the coaching has made to your organization.
As our coaching program draws to an end, we create a Sustaining Growth plan with you to help advance your agenda over the next 3-4 months after the program ends. This structure makes for a smooth transition between the program’s end and the continuation of your efforts. We provide you with ongoing email support for a further six months too.
We also review with you how the achievements measure up against the outcomes envisioned at the start of the plan, based on our agreed-upon measures. From this discussion you can then see the value gained from your participation in the program for you, your team, and your organization as a whole.
As the program comes to a formal close too soon for us to determine the full value of your participation in it, we follow up with you 4-6 months later with a Business Value Interview. During this interview, we revisit your Sustaining Growth plan, and then we observe how you continue adding value to the business through your efforts. Our major focus at this time is to show clearly, in detail, the impact you have on the organization and tie it in with the original measures. When it makes sense to do so, we share the results with line management and other stakeholders, but only upon your prior approval.
